Super easy idea to make your next table setting a little different to the last. I made one up for a recent Christmas lunch that i hosted at my house.
What you need...
2 colours of cotton fabric
Fabric glue, either spray can or squeeze bottle
...and what you need to do
Cut the cotton fabric so that you have two separate pieces each with the following measurements:
a width of 25cm; and
a length that is half the length of the table, minus 15cm so that the whole runner will sit 15cm in from each end of the table once the two pieces are joined.
Cut the lace so that you get two pieces the width of the cotton fabric.
Lay the two pieces of cotton fabric with short ends together on newspaper. Fold over one edge of the fabric so the join is neat. Apply glue to the fabric edges and press together. Leave to dry for 10 minutes.
Trim along the long edge of the fabric is not meeting exactly straight.
Lay lace on a piece of cardboard or newspaper, wrong side up. Apply glue to the lace and stick along each end of your runner. Again, trim the long side of the runner if the lace is not flush with the cotton fabric. Allow to dry.
Carefully iron your runner over the middle seam on low heat to flatten the fabric fold. Do not iron on hot or for too long as you'll melt the glue. Iron the cotton fabric to finish off your runner.
