This week I bought my grandmother's dining table some new chairs. Gran gave me this table along with some cane chairs two years ago when she passed away. It is a Victorian cherry mahogany table, in a gorgeous oval shape. I can't describe the chairs with as much vigour - they were completely past it so it was time to change them up...
I have for years wanted to juxtapose an antique table with contemporary chairs, and that is exactly what I did here with mine this week. See the new look below, made complete with four matte black replica Bertoia chairs from Matt Blatt...
Yes, i know these are used a lot, but they are simple, contempory, comfortable and super versatile. They also come in a HUGE range of colours and finishes (wood, metal, wire mesh, translucent and opaque).
...And did i mention VERY affordable?
Hans Wegner, replica ELBOW CHAIR
In Ash wood with black seat
Check it out here where you can buy it in Australia
For those that like the softness of timber - this is the ultimate contempory chair that will withstand the fashion cycle - timeless, solid and easy on the eye. I love the low profile of the frame, which you can see creates a lovely line in the dining setting below.
Hans Wegner nailed the dining chair with the Elbow.
